Timing matters. Wash your house in early March in Virginia Beach and you'll likely watch it turn yellow again a few weeks later. Here's how coastal Virginia's seasons affect your home, and when to schedule each service.
March–May: pollen season ("the yellow coat")
Pine and oak pollen blankets everything from Pungo to Ocean View. It settles on siding, porches, screens, cars and driveways. Our advice: book your house wash for late May, after the pollen drops, so your home stays clean through summer. If you have an event earlier, like a graduation or a home sale, we can still wash in spring. Just expect a light dusting to return.
June–August: mildew season
Heat plus humidity is when green algae and black mildew grow fastest, especially on north-facing walls and shady lots. Early summer is a great time for a house wash and a deck cleaning so your outdoor space is ready to enjoy. Hurricane season also starts June 1, so it's smart to make sure your gutters are flowing.
September–November: leaves and storm cleanup
Falling leaves clog gutters and leave tannin stains on decks and driveways. Fall is ideal for gutter cleaning and driveway cleaning, and for getting your home looking its best before the holidays.
December–February: salt and nor'easters
Winter nor'easters push salt spray inland from the Atlantic and the Chesapeake Bay, especially near the Oceanfront, Chic's Beach and Ocean View. Mild winter days are great for concrete, fences and window cleaning, and for getting on the schedule early before the spring rush.
A simple yearly plan
